Please Take Action for Universal
Student Meals!

MAND’s 2022 Day on the Hill was held to raise awareness of the alarming rise in child food insecurity since the start of the pandemic and showcase the positive impact of universal free school meals in reducing child hunger.

State Senator Sal DiDomenico and State Representative Andres Vargas shared their passion for universal school meals – they asked, “we don’t make students pay for the bus or their desks, so why do we make them pay for their meals?” Our panel speakers were Linh Vu from Project Bread, Shennie Quintanilla from Walpole Public Schools, and Melanie Wilk from Chicopee Public Schools.

If you did not get to join us on March 14th, you can view the recording HERE

Please support universal school meals by visiting the Take Action Now! page on the MAND website and follow the how-to guide to email your state senator and state representative to ask them to support the universal school meals bill. As of April 1st, 97 of 200 MA legislators have shown their support – let’s get that to 200!
